15. Al-Hijr Page 266قَالَHe saidهٰۤؤُلَآءِTheseبَنٰتِیْۤ(are) my daughtersاِنْifكُنْتُمْyou would beفٰعِلِیْنَؕdoers
(15:71) [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."
لَعَمْرُكَBy your lifeاِنَّهُمْindeed theyلَفِیْwere inسَكْرَتِهِمْtheir intoxicationیَعْمَهُوْنَ wandering blindly
(15:72) By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.
فَاَخَذَتْهُمُSo seized themالصَّیْحَةُthe awful cryمُشْرِقِیْنَۙat sunrise
(15:73) So the shriek seized them at sunrise.
فَجَعَلْنَاAnd We madeعَالِیَهَاits highest (part)سَافِلَهَاits lowestوَ اَمْطَرْنَاand We rainedعَلَیْهِمْupon themحِجَارَةًstonesمِّنْofسِجِّیْلٍؕbaked clay
(15:74) And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.
اِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیٰتٍ(are) the Signsلِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِیْنَ for those who discern
(15:75) Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.
وَ اِنَّهَاAnd indeed itلَبِسَبِیْلٍ(is) on a roadمُّقِیْمٍ established
(15:76) And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.
اِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیَةًsurely (is) a Signلِّلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَؕfor the believers
(15:77) Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.
وَ اِنْAnd wereكَانَAnd wereاَصْحٰبُ(the) companionsالْاَیْكَةِ(of) the woodلَظٰلِمِیْنَۙsurely wrongdoers
(15:78) And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.
فَانْتَقَمْنَاSo We took retributionمِنْهُمْ ۘfrom themوَ اِنَّهُمَاand indeed they bothلَبِاِمَامٍ(were) on a highwayمُّبِیْنٍؕ۠clear
(15:79) So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.
وَ لَقَدْAnd certainlyكَذَّبَdeniedاَصْحٰبُ(the) companionsالْحِجْرِ(of) the Rocky Tractالْمُرْسَلِیْنَۙthe Messengers
(15:80) And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.
وَ اٰتَیْنٰهُمْAnd We gave themاٰیٰتِنَاOur Signsفَكَانُوْاbut they wereعَنْهَاfrom themمُعْرِضِیْنَۙturning away
(15:81) And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.
وَ كَانُوْاAnd they used (to)یَنْحِتُوْنَcarveمِنَfromالْجِبَالِthe mountainsبُیُوْتًاhousesاٰمِنِیْنَ secure
(15:82) And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.
فَاَخَذَتْهُمُBut seized themالصَّیْحَةُthe awful cryمُصْبِحِیْنَۙ(at) early morning
(15:83) But the shriek seized them at early morning.
فَمَاۤAnd notاَغْنٰیavailedعَنْهُمْthemمَّاwhatكَانُوْاthey used (to)یَكْسِبُوْنَؕearn
(15:84) So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.
وَ مَاAnd notخَلَقْنَاWe createdالسَّمٰوٰتِthe heavensوَ الْاَرْضَand the earthوَ مَاand whateverبَیْنَهُمَاۤ(is) between themاِلَّاexceptبِالْحَقِّ ؕin truthوَ اِنَّAnd indeedالسَّاعَةَthe Hourلَاٰتِیَةٌ(is) surely comingفَاصْفَحِSo overlookالصَّفْحَ(with) forgivenessالْجَمِیْلَ gracious
(15:85) And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.
اِنَّIndeedرَبَّكَyour LordهُوَHeالْخَلّٰقُ(is) the Creatorالْعَلِیْمُ the All-Knower
(15:86) Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.
وَ لَقَدْAnd certainlyاٰتَیْنٰكَWe have given youسَبْعًاsevenمِّنَofالْمَثَانِیْthe oft-repeatedوَ الْقُرْاٰنَand the Quranالْعَظِیْمَ Great
(15:87) And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.
لَا(Do) notتَمُدَّنَّextendعَیْنَیْكَyour eyesاِلٰیtowardsمَاwhatمَتَّعْنَاWe have bestowedبِهٖۤwith itاَزْوَاجًا(to) categoriesمِّنْهُمْof themوَ لَاand (do) notتَحْزَنْgrieveعَلَیْهِمْover themوَ اخْفِضْAnd lowerجَنَاحَكَyour wingلِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ to the believers
(15:88) Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers
وَ قُلْAnd sayاِنِّیْۤIndeed Iاَنَا[I] amالنَّذِیْرُa warnerالْمُبِیْنُۚclear
(15:89) And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -
كَمَاۤAsاَنْزَلْنَاWe sent downعَلَیonالْمُقْتَسِمِیْنَۙthose who divided
(15:90) Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators
15. Al-Hijr Page 267الَّذِیْنَThose whoجَعَلُواhave madeالْقُرْاٰنَthe Quranعِضِیْنَ (in) parts
(15:91) Who have made the Qur'an into portions.
فَوَرَبِّكَSo by your Lordلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْsurely We will question themاَجْمَعِیْنَۙall
(15:92) So by your Lord, We will surely question them all
عَمَّاAbout whatكَانُوْاthey used (to)یَعْمَلُوْنَ do
(15:93) About what they used to do.
فَاصْدَعْSo proclaimبِمَاof whatتُؤْمَرُyou are orderedوَ اَعْرِضْand turn awayعَنِfromالْمُشْرِكِیْنَ the polytheists
(15:94) Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.
اِنَّاIndeed Weكَفَیْنٰكَ[We] are sufficient for youالْمُسْتَهْزِءِیْنَۙ(against) the mockers
(15:95) Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers
الَّذِیْنَThose whoیَجْعَلُوْنَset upمَعَwithاللّٰهِAllahاِلٰهًاgodاٰخَرَ ۚanotherفَسَوْفَBut soonیَعْلَمُوْنَ they will come to know
(15:96) Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know.
وَ لَقَدْAnd verilyنَعْلَمُWe knowاَنَّكَthat [you]یَضِیْقُ(is) straitenedصَدْرُكَyour breastبِمَاby whatیَقُوْلُوْنَۙthey say
(15:97) And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.
فَسَبِّحْSo glorifyبِحَمْدِwith the praiseرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordوَ كُنْand beمِّنَofالسّٰجِدِیْنَۙthose who prostrate
(15:98) So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].
وَ اعْبُدْAnd worshipرَبَّكَyour Lordحَتّٰیuntilیَاْتِیَكَcomes to youالْیَقِیْنُ۠the certainty
(15:99) And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).
16. An-Nahlبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاَتٰۤیWill comeاَمْرُthe commandاللّٰهِof Allahفَلَاso (do) notتَسْتَعْجِلُوْهُ ؕ(be) impatient for itسُبْحٰنَهٗGlorified is Heوَ تَعٰلٰیand Exalted (is) Heعَمَّاabove whatیُشْرِكُوْنَ they associate
(16:1) The command of Allah is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
یُنَزِّلُHe sends downالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةَthe Angelsبِالرُّوْحِwith the inspirationمِنْofاَمْرِهٖHis CommandعَلٰیuponمَنْwhomیَّشَآءُHe willsمِنْofعِبَادِهٖۤHis slavesاَنْthatاَنْذِرُوْۤاWarnاَنَّهٗthat [He]لَاۤ(there is) noاِلٰهَgodاِلَّاۤexceptاَنَاMeفَاتَّقُوْنِ so fear Me
(16:2) He sends down the angels, with the inspiration of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."
خَلَقَHe createdالسَّمٰوٰتِthe heavensوَ الْاَرْضَand the earthبِالْحَقِّ ؕin truthتَعٰلٰیExalted is Heعَمَّاabove whatیُشْرِكُوْنَ they associate
(16:3) He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him.
خَلَقَHe createdالْاِنْسَانَthe human kindمِنْfromنُّطْفَةٍa minute quantity of semenفَاِذَاthen beholdهُوَheخَصِیْمٌ(is) an opponentمُّبِیْنٌ clear
(16:4) He created man from a sperm-drop; then at once, he is a clear adversary.
وَ الْاَنْعَامَAnd the cattleخَلَقَهَا ۚHe created themلَكُمْfor youفِیْهَاin themدِفْءٌ(is) warmthوَّ مَنَافِعُand benefitsوَ مِنْهَاand from themتَاْكُلُوْنَ۪you eat
(16:5) And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.
وَ لَكُمْAnd for youفِیْهَاin themجَمَالٌ(is) beautyحِیْنَwhenتُرِیْحُوْنَyou bring them inوَ حِیْنَand whenتَسْرَحُوْنَ۪you take them out
(16:6) And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].
16. An-Nahl Page 268وَ تَحْمِلُAnd they carryاَثْقَالَكُمْyour loadsاِلٰیtoبَلَدٍa landلَّمْnotتَكُوْنُوْاyou couldبٰلِغِیْهِreach itاِلَّاexceptبِشِقِّwith great troubleالْاَنْفُسِ ؕ(to) yourselvesاِنَّIndeedرَبَّكُمْyour Lordلَرَءُوْفٌsurely is Most KindرَّحِیْمٌۙMost Merciful
(16:7) And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
وَّ الْخَیْلَAnd horsesوَ الْبِغَالَand mulesوَ الْحَمِیْرَand donkeysلِتَرْكُبُوْهَاfor you to ride themوَ زِیْنَةً ؕand (as) adornmentوَ یَخْلُقُAnd He createsمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُوْنَ you know
(16:8) And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.
وَ عَلَیAnd uponاللّٰهِAllahقَصْدُ(is) the directionالسَّبِیْلِ(of) the wayوَ مِنْهَاand among themجَآىِٕرٌ ؕ(are) crookedوَ لَوْAnd ifشَآءَHe willedلَهَدٰىكُمْsurely He would have guided youاَجْمَعِیْنَ۠all
(16:9) And upon Allah is the direction of the [right] way, and among the various paths are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.
هُوَHeالَّذِیْۤ(is) the One Whoاَنْزَلَsends downمِنَfromالسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterلَّكُمْfor youمِّنْهُof itشَرَابٌ(is) drinkوَّ مِنْهُand from itشَجَرٌ(grows) vegetationفِیْهِin whichتُسِیْمُوْنَ you pasture your cattle
(16:10) It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals].
یُنْۢبِتُHe causes to growلَكُمْfor youبِهِwith itالزَّرْعَthe cropsوَ الزَّیْتُوْنَand the olivesوَ النَّخِیْلَand the date-palmsوَ الْاَعْنَابَand the grapesوَ مِنْand ofكُلِّevery kindالثَّمَرٰتِ ؕ(of) fruitsاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیَةًsurely (is) a signلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ who reflect
(16:11) He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and from all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
وَ سَخَّرَAnd He has subjectedلَكُمُfor youالَّیْلَthe nightوَ النَّهَارَ ۙand the dayوَ الشَّمْسَand the sunوَ الْقَمَرَ ؕand the moonوَ النُّجُوْمُand the starsمُسَخَّرٰتٌۢ(are) subjectedبِاَمْرِهٖ ؕby His commandاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیٰتٍsurely (are) signsلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیَّعْقِلُوْنَۙwho use reason
(16:12) And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.
وَ مَاAnd whateverذَرَاَHe multipliedلَكُمْfor youفِیinالْاَرْضِthe earthمُخْتَلِفًا(of) varyingاَلْوَانُهٗ ؕcolorsاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیَةًsurely (is) a signلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیَّذَّكَّرُوْنَ who remember
(16:13) And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.
وَ هُوَAnd Heالَّذِیْ(is) the One Whoسَخَّرَsubjectedالْبَحْرَthe seaلِتَاْكُلُوْاfor you to eatمِنْهُfrom itلَحْمًاmeatطَرِیًّاfreshوَّ تَسْتَخْرِجُوْاand that you bring forthمِنْهُfrom itحِلْیَةًornamentsتَلْبَسُوْنَهَا ۚ(that) you wear themوَ تَرَیAnd you seeالْفُلْكَthe shipsمَوَاخِرَploughingفِیْهِthrough itوَ لِتَبْتَغُوْاand that you may seekمِنْofفَضْلِهٖHis Bountyوَ لَعَلَّكُمْand that you mayتَشْكُرُوْنَ (be) grateful
(16:14) And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
16. An-Nahl Page 269وَ اَلْقٰیAnd He has castفِیinالْاَرْضِthe earthرَوَاسِیَfirm mountainsاَنْlestتَمِیْدَit should shakeبِكُمْwith youوَ اَنْهٰرًاand riversوَّ سُبُلًاand roadsلَّعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتَهْتَدُوْنَۙbe guided
(16:15) And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you, and [made] rivers and roads, that you may be guided,
وَ عَلٰمٰتٍ ؕAnd landmarksوَ بِالنَّجْمِAnd by the starsهُمْtheyیَهْتَدُوْنَ guide themselves
(16:16) And landmarks. And by the stars they are [also] guided.
اَفَمَنْThen is He Whoیَّخْلُقُcreatesكَمَنْlike one whoلَّا(does) notیَخْلُقُ ؕcreateاَفَلَاThen will you notتَذَكَّرُوْنَ remember
(16:17) Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?
وَ اِنْAnd ifتَعُدُّوْاyou should countنِعْمَةَthe Favors of Allahاللّٰهِthe Favors of Allahلَاnotتُحْصُوْهَا ؕyou could enumerate themاِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahلَغَفُوْرٌ(is) Oft-Forgivingرَّحِیْمٌ Most Merciful
(16:18) And if you should count the favors of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahیَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatتُسِرُّوْنَyou concealوَ مَاand whatتُعْلِنُوْنَ you reveal
(16:19) And Allah knows what you conceal and what you declare.
وَ الَّذِیْنَAnd those whomیَدْعُوْنَthey invokeمِنْbesidesدُوْنِbesidesاللّٰهِAllahلَاnotیَخْلُقُوْنَthey createشَیْـًٔاanythingوَّ هُمْbut (are) themselvesیُخْلَقُوْنَؕcreated
(16:20) And those they invoke other than Allah create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.
اَمْوَاتٌ(They are) deadغَیْرُnotاَحْیَآءٍ ۚaliveوَ مَاAnd notیَشْعُرُوْنَ ۙthey perceiveاَیَّانَwhenیُبْعَثُوْنَ۠they will be resurrected
(16:21) They are, [in fact], dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.
اِلٰهُكُمْYour godاِلٰهٌ(is) Godوَّاحِدٌ ۚOneفَالَّذِیْنَBut those whoلَا(do) notیُؤْمِنُوْنَbelieveبِالْاٰخِرَةِin the Hereafterقُلُوْبُهُمْtheir heartsمُّنْكِرَةٌrefuseوَّ هُمْand theyمُّسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ (are) arrogant
(16:22) Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.
لَاNoجَرَمَdoubtاَنَّthatاللّٰهَAllahیَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatیُسِرُّوْنَthey concealوَ مَاand whatیُعْلِنُوْنَ ؕthey revealاِنَّهٗIndeed, Heلَا(does) notیُحِبُّloveالْمُسْتَكْبِرِیْنَ the arrogant ones
(16:23) Assuredly, Allah knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.
وَ اِذَاAnd whenقِیْلَit is saidلَهُمْto themمَّا ذَاۤWhatاَنْزَلَhas your Lord sent downرَبُّكُمْ ۙhas your Lord sent downقَالُوْۤاThey sayاَسَاطِیْرُTalesالْاَوَّلِیْنَۙ(of) the ancient
(16:24) And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" They say, "Legends of the former peoples,"
لِیَحْمِلُوْۤاThat they may bearاَوْزَارَهُمْtheir own burdensكَامِلَةً(in) fullیَّوْمَon (the) Dayالْقِیٰمَةِ ۙ(of) the Resurrectionوَ مِنْand ofاَوْزَارِthe burdensالَّذِیْنَ(of) those whomیُضِلُّوْنَهُمْthey misled [them]بِغَیْرِwithoutعِلْمٍ ؕknowledgeاَلَاUnquestionablyسَآءَevilمَا(is) whatیَزِرُوْنَ۠they will bear
(16:25) That they may bear their own burdens in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.
قَدْVerilyمَكَرَplottedالَّذِیْنَthose whoمِنْ(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ(were) before themفَاَتَیbut Allah cameاللّٰهُbut Allah cameبُنْیَانَهُمْ(at) their buildingمِّنَfromالْقَوَاعِدِthe foundationsفَخَرَّso fellعَلَیْهِمُupon themالسَّقْفُthe roofمِنْfromفَوْقِهِمْabove themوَ اَتٰىهُمُand came to themالْعَذَابُthe punishmentمِنْfromحَیْثُwhereلَاthey (did) not perceiveیَشْعُرُوْنَ they (did) not perceive
(16:26) Those before them had already plotted, but Allah came at their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them, and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.
16. An-Nahl Page 270ثُمَّThenیَوْمَ(on) the Dayالْقِیٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionیُخْزِیْهِمْHe will disgrace themوَ یَقُوْلُand sayاَیْنَWhereشُرَكَآءِیَ(are) My partnersالَّذِیْنَthose (for) whomكُنْتُمْyou used (to)تُشَآقُّوْنَopposeفِیْهِمْ ؕ[in them]قَالَWill sayالَّذِیْنَthose whoاُوْتُواwere givenالْعِلْمَthe knowledgeاِنَّIndeedالْخِزْیَthe disgraceالْیَوْمَthis Dayوَ السُّوْٓءَand evilعَلَی(are) uponالْكٰفِرِیْنَۙthe disbelievers
(16:27) Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" -
الَّذِیْنَThose whomتَتَوَفّٰىهُمُtake them in deathالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُthe Angelsظَالِمِیْۤ(while) wrongingاَنْفُسِهِمْ ۪themselvesفَاَلْقَوُاthen they would offerالسَّلَمَthe submissionمَاNotكُنَّاwe wereنَعْمَلُdoingمِنْanyسُوْٓءٍ ؕevilبَلٰۤیNayاِنَّindeedاللّٰهَAllahعَلِیْمٌۢ(is) All-Knowerبِمَاof whatكُنْتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُوْنَ do
(16:28) The ones whom the angels take in death [while] wronging themselves, and [who] then offer submission, [saying], "We were not doing any evil." But, yes! Indeed, Allah is Knowing of what you used to do.
فَادْخُلُوْۤاSo enterاَبْوَابَ(the) gatesجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellخٰلِدِیْنَ(to) abide foreverفِیْهَا ؕin itفَلَبِئْسَSurely wretchedمَثْوَی(is the) abodeالْمُتَكَبِّرِیْنَ (of) the arrogant
(16:29) So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.
وَ قِیْلَAnd it will be saidلِلَّذِیْنَto those whoاتَّقَوْاfear Allahمَا ذَاۤWhatاَنْزَلَhas your Lord sent downرَبُّكُمْ ؕhas your Lord sent downقَالُوْاThey will sayخَیْرًا ؕGoodلِلَّذِیْنَFor those whoاَحْسَنُوْاdo goodفِیْinهٰذِهِthisالدُّنْیَاworldحَسَنَةٌ ؕ(is) a goodوَ لَدَارُand the homeالْاٰخِرَةِof the Hereafterخَیْرٌ ؕ(is) betterوَ لَنِعْمَAnd surely excellentدَارُ(is) the homeالْمُتَّقِیْنَۙ(of) the righteous
(16:30) And it will be said to those who feared Allah, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
جَنّٰتُGardensعَدْنٍ(of) Edenیَّدْخُلُوْنَهَاwhich they will enterتَجْرِیْflowsمِنْfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath themالْاَنْهٰرُthe riversلَهُمْFor themفِیْهَاthereinمَا(will be) whateverیَشَآءُوْنَ ؕthey wishكَذٰلِكَThusیَجْزِیAllah rewardsاللّٰهُAllah rewardsالْمُتَّقِیْنَۙthe righteous
(16:31) Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allah reward the righteous -
الَّذِیْنَThose whomتَتَوَفّٰىهُمُtake them in deathالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُthe Angelsطَیِّبِیْنَ ۙ(when they are) pureیَقُوْلُوْنَsayingسَلٰمٌPeaceعَلَیْكُمُ ۙ(be) upon youادْخُلُواEnterالْجَنَّةَParadiseبِمَاfor whatكُنْتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُوْنَ do
(16:32) The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."
هَلْDoیَنْظُرُوْنَthey waitاِلَّاۤexceptاَنْthatتَاْتِیَهُمُ(should) come to themالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُthe Angelsاَوْorیَاْتِیَ(should) comeاَمْرُ(the) Commandرَبِّكَ ؕ(of) your LordكَذٰلِكَThusفَعَلَdidالَّذِیْنَthose whoمِنْ(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ ؕ(were) before themوَ مَاAnd notظَلَمَهُمُwronged themاللّٰهُAllahوَ لٰكِنْbutكَانُوْۤاthey wereاَنْفُسَهُمْthemselvesیَظْلِمُوْنَ wronging
(16:33) Do the disbelievers await [anything] except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allah wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.
فَاَصَابَهُمْThen struck themسَیِّاٰتُ(the) evil (results)مَا(of) whatعَمِلُوْاthey didوَ حَاقَand surroundedبِهِمْthemمَّاwhatكَانُوْاthey used (to)بِهٖ[of it]یَسْتَهْزِءُوْنَ۠mock
(16:34) So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
16. An-Nahl Page 271وَ قَالَAnd saidالَّذِیْنَthose whoاَشْرَكُوْاassociate partners (with Allah)لَوْIfشَآءَAllah (had) willedاللّٰهُAllah (had) willedمَاnotعَبَدْنَاwe (would) have worshippedمِنْother than Himدُوْنِهٖother than Himمِنْanyشَیْءٍthingنَّحْنُweوَ لَاۤand notاٰبَآؤُنَاour forefathersوَ لَاand notحَرَّمْنَاwe (would) have forbiddenمِنْother than Himدُوْنِهٖother than Himمِنْanythingشَیْءٍ ؕanythingكَذٰلِكَThusفَعَلَdidالَّذِیْنَthose whoمِنْ(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ ۚ(were) before themفَهَلْThen is (there)عَلَیonالرُّسُلِthe messengersاِلَّاexceptالْبَلٰغُthe conveyanceالْمُبِیْنُ clear
(16:35) And those who associate others with Allah say, "If Allah had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?
وَ لَقَدْAnd certainlyبَعَثْنَاWe sentفِیْintoكُلِّeveryاُمَّةٍnationرَّسُوْلًاa MessengerاَنِthatاعْبُدُواWorshipاللّٰهَAllahوَ اجْتَنِبُواand avoidالطَّاغُوْتَ ۚthe false deitiesفَمِنْهُمْThen among themمَّنْ(were some) whomهَدَیAllah guidedاللّٰهُAllah guidedوَ مِنْهُمْand among themمَّنْ(were) someحَقَّتْwas justifiedعَلَیْهِon themالضَّلٰلَةُ ؕthe strayingفَسِیْرُوْاSo travelفِیinالْاَرْضِthe earthفَانْظُرُوْاand seeكَیْفَhowكَانَwasعَاقِبَةُthe endالْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ (of) the deniers
(16:36) And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allah and avoid Taghut." And among them were those whom Allah guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
اِنْIfتَحْرِصْyou desireعَلٰی[for]هُدٰىهُمْtheir guidanceفَاِنَّthen indeedاللّٰهَAllahلَا(will) notیَهْدِیْguideمَنْwhomیُّضِلُّHe lets go astrayوَ مَاand not (are)لَهُمْfor themمِّنْanyنّٰصِرِیْنَ helpers
(16:37) [Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muhammad], indeed, Allah does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers.
وَ اَقْسَمُوْاAnd they swearبِاللّٰهِby Allahجَهْدَstrongestاَیْمَانِهِمْ ۙ(of) their oathsلَاAllah will not resurrectیَبْعَثُAllah will not resurrectاللّٰهُAllah will not resurrectمَنْ(one) whoیَّمُوْتُ ؕdiesبَلٰیNayوَعْدًا(it is) a promiseعَلَیْهِupon Himحَقًّا(in) truthوَّ لٰكِنَّbutاَكْثَرَmostالنَّاسِ(of) the mankindلَا(do) notیَعْلَمُوْنَۙknow
(16:38) And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths [that] Allah will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
لِیُبَیِّنَThat He will make clearلَهُمُto themالَّذِیْthatیَخْتَلِفُوْنَthey differفِیْهِwhereinوَ لِیَعْلَمَand that may knowالَّذِیْنَthose whoكَفَرُوْۤاdisbelievedاَنَّهُمْthat theyكَانُوْاwereكٰذِبِیْنَ liars
(16:39) [It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.
اِنَّمَاOnlyقَوْلُنَاOur Wordلِشَیْءٍto a thingاِذَاۤwhenاَرَدْنٰهُWe intend itاَنْ(is) thatنَّقُوْلَWe sayلَهٗto itكُنْBeفَیَكُوْنُ۠and it is
(16:40) Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
وَ الَّذِیْنَAnd those whoهَاجَرُوْاemigratedفِیin (the way)اللّٰهِ(of) Allahمِنْۢafterبَعْدِafterمَا[what]ظُلِمُوْاthey were wrongedلَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْsurely We will give them positionفِیinالدُّنْیَاthe worldحَسَنَةً ؕgoodوَ لَاَجْرُbut surely the rewardالْاٰخِرَةِ(of) the Hereafterاَكْبَرُ ۘ(is) greaterلَوْifكَانُوْاtheyیَعْلَمُوْنَۙknow
(16:41) And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allah after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.
الَّذِیْنَThose whoصَبَرُوْا(are) patientوَ عَلٰیand onرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordیَتَوَكَّلُوْنَ they put their trust
(16:42) [They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.
16. An-Nahl Page 272وَ مَاۤAnd notاَرْسَلْنَاWe sentمِنْbefore youقَبْلِكَbefore youاِلَّاexceptرِجَالًاmenنُّوْحِیْۤWe revealedاِلَیْهِمْto themفَسْـَٔلُوْۤاso askاَهْلَ(the) peopleالذِّكْرِ(of) the Reminderاِنْifكُنْتُمْyouلَا(do) notتَعْلَمُوْنَۙknow
(16:43) And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message if you do not know.
بِالْبَیِّنٰتِWith the clear proofsوَ الزُّبُرِ ؕand the Booksوَ اَنْزَلْنَاۤAnd We sent downاِلَیْكَto youالذِّكْرَthe Remembranceلِتُبَیِّنَthat you may make clearلِلنَّاسِto the mankindمَاwhatنُزِّلَhas been sent downاِلَیْهِمْto themوَ لَعَلَّهُمْand that they mayیَتَفَكَّرُوْنَ reflect
(16:44) [We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.
اَفَاَمِنَDo then feel secureالَّذِیْنَthose whoمَكَرُواplottedالسَّیِّاٰتِthe evil deedsاَنْthatیَّخْسِفَAllah will caveاللّٰهُAllah will caveبِهِمُwith themالْاَرْضَthe earthاَوْorیَاْتِیَهُمُwill come to themالْعَذَابُthe punishmentمِنْfromحَیْثُwhereلَاnotیَشْعُرُوْنَۙthey perceive
(16:45) Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allah will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?
اَوْOrیَاْخُذَهُمْthat He may seize themفِیْinتَقَلُّبِهِمْtheir going to and froفَمَاthen notهُمْtheyبِمُعْجِزِیْنَۙwill be able to escape
(16:46) Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure?
اَوْOrیَاْخُذَهُمْthat He may seize themعَلٰیwithتَخَوُّفٍ ؕa gradual wastingفَاِنَّBut indeedرَبَّكُمْyour Lordلَرَءُوْفٌ(is) surely Full of Kindnessرَّحِیْمٌ Most Merciful
(16:47) Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
اَوَ لَمْHave notیَرَوْاthey seenاِلٰی[towards]مَاwhatخَلَقَAllah has createdاللّٰهُAllah has createdمِنْfromشَیْءٍa thingیَّتَفَیَّؤُاInclineظِلٰلُهٗtheir shadowsعَنِtoالْیَمِیْنِthe rightوَ الشَّمَآىِٕلِand to the leftسُجَّدًاprostratingلِّلّٰهِto Allahوَ هُمْwhile theyدٰخِرُوْنَ (are) humble
(16:48) Have they not considered what things Allah has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allah, while they are humble.
وَ لِلّٰهِAnd to Allahیَسْجُدُprostrateمَاwhateverفِی(is) inالسَّمٰوٰتِthe heavensوَ مَاand whateverفِی(is) inالْاَرْضِthe earthمِنْofدَآبَّةٍmoving creaturesوَّ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُand the Angelsوَ هُمْand theyلَا(are) notیَسْتَكْبِرُوْنَ arrogant
(16:49) And to Allah prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant.
یَخَافُوْنَThey fearرَبَّهُمْtheir Lordمِّنْabove themفَوْقِهِمْabove themوَ یَفْعَلُوْنَand they doمَاwhatیُؤْمَرُوْنَ۠۩they are commanded
(16:50) They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.
وَ قَالَAnd Allah has saidاللّٰهُAnd Allah has saidلَا(Do) notتَتَّخِذُوْۤاtakeاِلٰهَیْنِ[two] godsاثْنَیْنِ ۚtwoاِنَّمَاonlyهُوَHeاِلٰهٌ(is) Godوَّاحِدٌ ۚOneفَاِیَّایَso Me Aloneفَارْهَبُوْنِ you fear [Me]
(16:51) And Allah has said, "Do not take for yourselves two deities. He is but one God, so fear only Me."
وَ لَهٗAnd to Him (belongs)مَاwhateverفِی(is) inالسَّمٰوٰتِthe heavensوَ الْاَرْضِand the earthوَ لَهُand to Himالدِّیْنُ(is due) the worshipوَاصِبًا ؕconstantlyاَفَغَیْرَThen is it other (than)اللّٰهِAllahتَتَّقُوْنَ you fear
(16:52) And to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allah that you fear?
وَ مَاAnd whateverبِكُمْyou haveمِّنْofنِّعْمَةٍfavorفَمِنَ(is) fromاللّٰهِAllahثُمَّThenاِذَاwhenمَسَّكُمُtouches youالضُّرُّthe adversityفَاِلَیْهِthen to Himتَجْـَٔرُوْنَۚyou cry for help
(16:53) And whatever you have of favor - it is from Allah. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.
ثُمَّThenاِذَاwhenكَشَفَHe removesالضُّرَّthe adversityعَنْكُمْfrom youاِذَاbehold!فَرِیْقٌA groupمِّنْكُمْof youبِرَبِّهِمْwith their Lordیُشْرِكُوْنَۙassociate others
(16:54) Then when He removes the adversity from you, at once a party of you associates others with their Lord
16. An-Nahl Page 273لِیَكْفُرُوْاSo as to denyبِمَاۤthat whichاٰتَیْنٰهُمْ ؕWe have given themفَتَمَتَّعُوْا ۫Then enjoy yourselvesفَسَوْفَsoonتَعْلَمُوْنَ you will know
(16:55) So they will deny what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.
وَ یَجْعَلُوْنَAnd they assignلِمَاto whatلَاnotیَعْلَمُوْنَthey knowنَصِیْبًاa portionمِّمَّاof whatرَزَقْنٰهُمْ ؕWe have provided themتَاللّٰهِBy Allahلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّsurely you will be askedعَمَّاabout whatكُنْتُمْyou used (to)تَفْتَرُوْنَ invent
(16:56) And they assign to what they do not know a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allah, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
وَ یَجْعَلُوْنَAnd they assignلِلّٰهِto Allahالْبَنٰتِdaughtersسُبْحٰنَهٗ ۙGlory be to Him!وَ لَهُمْAnd for themمَّا(is) whatیَشْتَهُوْنَ they desire
(16:57) And they attribute to Allah daughters - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire.
وَ اِذَاAnd whenبُشِّرَis given good newsاَحَدُهُمْ(to) one of themبِالْاُنْثٰیof a femaleظَلَّturnsوَجْهُهٗhis faceمُسْوَدًّاdarkوَّ هُوَand heكَظِیْمٌۚsuppresses grief
(16:58) And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
یَتَوَارٰیHe hides himselfمِنَfromالْقَوْمِthe peopleمِنْ(because) ofسُوْٓءِthe evilمَاof whatبُشِّرَhe has been given good newsبِهٖ ؕaboutاَیُمْسِكُهٗShould he keep itعَلٰیinهُوْنٍhumiliationاَمْorیَدُسُّهٗbury itفِیinالتُّرَابِ ؕthe dustاَلَاUnquestionablyسَآءَevilمَا(is) whatیَحْكُمُوْنَ they decide
(16:59) He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.
لِلَّذِیْنَFor those whoلَا(do) notیُؤْمِنُوْنَbelieveبِالْاٰخِرَةِin the Hereafterمَثَلُ(is) a similitudeالسَّوْءِ ۚ(of) the evilوَ لِلّٰهِand for Allahالْمَثَلُ(is) the similitudeالْاَعْلٰی ؕthe Highestوَ هُوَAnd Heالْعَزِیْزُ(is) the All-Mightyالْحَكِیْمُ۠All-Wise
(16:60) For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description of evil; and for Allah is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.
وَ لَوْAnd ifیُؤَاخِذُAllah were to seizeاللّٰهُAllah were to seizeالنَّاسَthe mankindبِظُلْمِهِمْfor their wrongdoingمَّاnotتَرَكَHe (would) have leftعَلَیْهَاupon itمِنْanyدَآبَّةٍmoving creatureوَّ لٰكِنْbutیُّؤَخِّرُهُمْHe defers themاِلٰۤیforاَجَلٍa termمُّسَمًّی ۚappointedفَاِذَاThen whenجَآءَcomesاَجَلُهُمْtheir termsلَاnotیَسْتَاْخِرُوْنَthey (will) remain behindسَاعَةًan hourوَّ لَاand notیَسْتَقْدِمُوْنَ they can advance (it)
(16:61) And if Allah were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon the earth any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].
وَ یَجْعَلُوْنَAnd they assignلِلّٰهِto Allahمَاwhatیَكْرَهُوْنَthey dislikeوَ تَصِفُand assertاَلْسِنَتُهُمُtheir tonguesالْكَذِبَthe lieاَنَّthatلَهُمُfor themالْحُسْنٰی ؕ(is) the bestلَاNoجَرَمَdoubtاَنَّthatلَهُمُfor themالنَّارَ(is) the Fireوَ اَنَّهُمْand that theyمُّفْرَطُوْنَ (will) be abandoned
(16:62) And they attribute to Allah that which they dislike, and their tongues assert the lie that they will have the best [from Him]. Assuredly, they will have the Fire, and they will be [therein] neglected.
تَاللّٰهِBy AllahلَقَدْcertainlyاَرْسَلْنَاۤWe have sentاِلٰۤیtoاُمَمٍnationsمِّنْbefore youقَبْلِكَbefore youفَزَیَّنَbut made fair-seemingلَهُمُto themالشَّیْطٰنُthe Shaitaanاَعْمَالَهُمْtheir deedsفَهُوَSo heوَلِیُّهُمُ(is) their allyالْیَوْمَtodayوَ لَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentاَلِیْمٌ painful
(16:63) By Allah, We did certainly send [messengers] to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds attractive to them. And he is the disbelievers' ally today [as well], and they will have a painful punishment.
وَ مَاۤAnd notاَنْزَلْنَاWe revealedعَلَیْكَto youالْكِتٰبَthe Bookاِلَّاexceptلِتُبَیِّنَthat you make clearلَهُمُto themالَّذِیthat whichاخْتَلَفُوْاthey differedفِیْهِ ۙin itوَ هُدًیand (as) a guidanceوَّ رَحْمَةًand mercyلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیُّؤْمِنُوْنَ who believe
(16:64) And We have not revealed to you the Book, [O Muhammad], except for you to make clear to them that wherein they have differed and as guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
16. An-Nahl Page 274وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahاَنْزَلَsends downمِنَfromالسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterفَاَحْیَاthen gives lifeبِهِby itالْاَرْضَ(to) the earthبَعْدَafterمَوْتِهَا ؕits deathاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیَةً(is) surely a Signلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیَّسْمَعُوْنَ۠who listen
(16:65) And Allah has sent down rain from the sky and given life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who listen.
وَ اِنَّAnd indeedلَكُمْfor youفِیinالْاَنْعَامِthe cattleلَعِبْرَةً ؕ(is) a lessonنُسْقِیْكُمْWe give you to drinkمِّمَّاfrom whatفِیْ(is) inبُطُوْنِهٖtheir belliesمِنْۢfromبَیْنِbetweenفَرْثٍbowelsوَّ دَمٍand bloodلَّبَنًاmilkخَالِصًاpureسَآىِٕغًاpalatableلِّلشّٰرِبِیْنَ to the drinkers
(16:66) And indeed, for you in grazing livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - between excretion and blood - pure milk, palatable to drinkers.
وَ مِنْAnd fromثَمَرٰتِfruitsالنَّخِیْلِthe date-palmوَ الْاَعْنَابِand the grapesتَتَّخِذُوْنَyou takeمِنْهُfrom itسَكَرًاintoxicantوَّ رِزْقًاand a provisionحَسَنًا ؕgoodاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیَةً(is) surely a Signلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیَّعْقِلُوْنَ who use reason
(16:67) And from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provision. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who reason.
وَ اَوْحٰیAnd inspiredرَبُّكَyour Lordاِلَیtoالنَّحْلِthe beeاَنِ[that]اتَّخِذِیْTakeمِنَamongالْجِبَالِthe mountainsبُیُوْتًاhousesوَّ مِنَand amongالشَّجَرِthe treesوَ مِمَّاand in whatیَعْرِشُوْنَۙthey construct
(16:68) And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses, and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.
ثُمَّThenكُلِیْeatمِنْfromكُلِّallالثَّمَرٰتِthe fruitsفَاسْلُكِیْand followسُبُلَ(the) waysرَبِّكِ(of) your Lordذُلُلًا ؕmade smoothیَخْرُجُComes forthمِنْۢfromبُطُوْنِهَاtheir belliesشَرَابٌa drinkمُّخْتَلِفٌ(of) varyingاَلْوَانُهٗcolorsفِیْهِin itشِفَآءٌ(is) a healingلِّلنَّاسِ ؕfor the mankindاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیَةً(is) surely a Signلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ who reflect
(16:69) Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahخَلَقَكُمْcreated youثُمَّthenیَتَوَفّٰىكُمْ ۙ۫will cause you to dieوَ مِنْكُمْAnd among youمَّنْ(is one) whoیُّرَدُّis sent backاِلٰۤیtoاَرْذَلِthe worstالْعُمُرِ(of) the ageلِكَیْso thatلَاnotیَعْلَمَhe will knowبَعْدَafterعِلْمٍknowledgeشَیْـًٔا ؕa thingاِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahعَلِیْمٌ(is) All-Knowingقَدِیْرٌ۠All-Powerful
(16:70) And Allah created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Competent.
وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahفَضَّلَhas favoredبَعْضَكُمْsome of youعَلٰیoverبَعْضٍothersفِیinالرِّزْقِ ۚ[the] provisionفَمَاBut notالَّذِیْنَthose whoفُضِّلُوْاwere favoredبِرَآدِّیْwould hand overرِزْقِهِمْtheir provisionعَلٰیtoمَاwhomمَلَكَتْpossessاَیْمَانُهُمْtheir right handsفَهُمْso (that) theyفِیْهِ(are) in itسَوَآءٌ ؕequalاَفَبِنِعْمَةِThen is it the Favorاللّٰهِof Allahیَجْحَدُوْنَ they reject
(16:71) And Allah has favored some of you over others in provision. But those who were favored would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess so they would be equal to them therein. Then is it the favor of Allah they reject?
وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahجَعَلَ(has) madeلَكُمْfor youمِّنْfromاَنْفُسِكُمْyourselvesاَزْوَاجًاspousesوَّ جَعَلَand has madeلَكُمْfor youمِّنْfromاَزْوَاجِكُمْyour spousesبَنِیْنَsonsوَ حَفَدَةًand grandsonsوَّ رَزَقَكُمْand has provided for youمِّنَfromالطَّیِّبٰتِ ؕthe good thingsاَفَبِالْبَاطِلِThen in falsehood doیُؤْمِنُوْنَthey believeوَ بِنِعْمَتِand the Favorاللّٰهِof Allahهُمْtheyیَكْفُرُوْنَۙdisbelieve
(16:72) And Allah has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allah they disbelieve?
16. An-Nahl Page 275وَ یَعْبُدُوْنَAnd they worshipمِنْother thanدُوْنِother thanاللّٰهِAllahمَاwhichلَاnotیَمْلِكُpossessesلَهُمْfor themرِزْقًاany provisionمِّنَfromالسَّمٰوٰتِthe heavensوَ الْاَرْضِand the earthشَیْـًٔا[anything]وَّ لَاand notیَسْتَطِیْعُوْنَۚthey are able
(16:73) And they worship besides Allah that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.
فَلَاSo (do) notتَضْرِبُوْاput forthلِلّٰهِfor Allahالْاَمْثَالَ ؕthe similitudeاِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahیَعْلَمُknowsوَ اَنْتُمْand youلَا(do) notتَعْلَمُوْنَ know
(16:74) So do not assert similarities to Allah. Indeed, Allah knows and you do not know.
ضَرَبَAllah sets forthاللّٰهُAllah sets forthمَثَلًاthe exampleعَبْدًا(of) a slaveمَّمْلُوْكًا(who is) ownedلَّاnotیَقْدِرُhe has powerعَلٰیonشَیْءٍanythingوَّ مَنْand (one) whomرَّزَقْنٰهُWe provided himمِنَّاfrom Usرِزْقًاa provisionحَسَنًاgoodفَهُوَso heیُنْفِقُspendsمِنْهُfrom itسِرًّاsecretlyوَّ جَهْرًا ؕand publiclyهَلْCanیَسْتَوٗنَ ؕthey be equalاَلْحَمْدُAll praiseلِلّٰهِ ؕ(is) for AllahبَلْNayاَكْثَرُهُمْbut most of themلَا(do) notیَعْلَمُوْنَ know
(16:75) Allah presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allah! But most of them do not know.
وَ ضَرَبَAnd Allah sets forthاللّٰهُAnd Allah sets forthمَثَلًاan exampleرَّجُلَیْنِ(of) two menاَحَدُهُمَاۤone of themاَبْكَمُ(is) dumbلَاnotیَقْدِرُhe has powerعَلٰیonشَیْءٍanythingوَّ هُوَwhile heكَلٌّ(is) a burdenعَلٰیonمَوْلٰىهُ ۙhis masterاَیْنَمَاWhereverیُوَجِّهْهُّhe directs himلَاnotیَاْتِhe comesبِخَیْرٍ ؕwith any goodهَلْIsیَسْتَوِیْequalهُوَ ۙheوَ مَنْand (the one) whoیَّاْمُرُcommandsبِالْعَدْلِ ۙ[of] justiceوَ هُوَand heعَلٰی(is) onصِرَاطٍa pathمُّسْتَقِیْمٍ۠straight
(16:76) And Allah presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?
وَ لِلّٰهِAnd to Allah (belongs)غَیْبُ(the) unseenالسَّمٰوٰتِ(of) the heavensوَ الْاَرْضِ ؕand the earthوَ مَاۤAnd notاَمْرُ(is the) matterالسَّاعَةِ(of) the Hourاِلَّاbutكَلَمْحِas a twinklingالْبَصَرِ(of) the eyeاَوْorهُوَitاَقْرَبُ ؕ(is) nearerاِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahعَلٰیonكُلِّeveryشَیْءٍthingقَدِیْرٌ (is) All-Powerful
(16:77) And to Allah belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.
وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahاَخْرَجَكُمْbrought you forthمِّنْۢfromبُطُوْنِthe wombsاُمَّهٰتِكُمْ(of) your mothersلَاnotتَعْلَمُوْنَknowingشَیْـًٔا ۙanythingوَّ جَعَلَand madeلَكُمُfor youالسَّمْعَthe hearingوَ الْاَبْصَارَand the sightوَ الْاَفْـِٕدَةَ ۙand the heartsلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتَشْكُرُوْنَ give thanks
(16:78) And Allah has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and intellect that perhaps you would be grateful.
اَلَمْDo notیَرَوْاthey seeاِلَیtowardsالطَّیْرِthe birdsمُسَخَّرٰتٍcontrolledفِیْinجَوِّthe midstالسَّمَآءِ ؕ(of) the skyمَاNoneیُمْسِكُهُنَّholds them upاِلَّاexceptاللّٰهُ ؕAllahاِنَّIndeedفِیْinذٰلِكَthatلَاٰیٰتٍ(are) Signsلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleیُّؤْمِنُوْنَ who believe
(16:79) Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allah. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
16. An-Nahl Page 276وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahجَعَلَ(has) madeلَكُمْfor youمِّنْۢ[from]بُیُوْتِكُمْyour homesسَكَنًاa resting placeوَّ جَعَلَand madeلَكُمْfor youمِّنْfromجُلُوْدِthe hidesالْاَنْعَامِ(of) the cattleبُیُوْتًاtentsتَسْتَخِفُّوْنَهَاwhich you find lightیَوْمَ(on) the dayظَعْنِكُمْ(of) your travelوَ یَوْمَand the dayاِقَامَتِكُمْ ۙ(of) your encampmentوَ مِنْand fromاَصْوَافِهَاtheir woolوَ اَوْبَارِهَاand their furوَ اَشْعَارِهَاۤand their hairاَثَاثًا(is) furnishingوَّ مَتَاعًاand a provisionاِلٰیforحِیْنٍ a time
(16:80) And Allah has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment for a time.
وَ اللّٰهُAnd Allahجَعَلَ(has) madeلَكُمْfor youمِّمَّاfrom whatخَلَقَHe createdظِلٰلًاshadesوَّ جَعَلَand (has) madeلَكُمْfor youمِّنَfromالْجِبَالِthe mountainsاَكْنَانًاsheltersوَّ جَعَلَand (has) madeلَكُمْfor youسَرَابِیْلَgarmentsتَقِیْكُمُto protect youالْحَرَّ(from) the heatوَ سَرَابِیْلَand garmentsتَقِیْكُمْto protect youبَاْسَكُمْ ؕfrom your (mutual) violenceكَذٰلِكَThusیُتِمُّHe completesنِعْمَتَهٗHis Favorعَلَیْكُمْupon youلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُسْلِمُوْنَ submit
(16:81) And Allah has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].
فَاِنْThen ifتَوَلَّوْاthey turn awayفَاِنَّمَاthen onlyعَلَیْكَupon youالْبَلٰغُ(is) the conveyanceالْمُبِیْنُ the clear
(16:82) But if they turn away, [O Muhammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.
یَعْرِفُوْنَThey recognizeنِعْمَتَ(the) Favorاللّٰهِ(of) Allahثُمَّthenیُنْكِرُوْنَهَاthey deny itوَ اَكْثَرُهُمُAnd most of themالْكٰفِرُوْنَ۠(are) the disbelievers
(16:83) They recognize the favor of Allah; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.
وَ یَوْمَAnd the DayنَبْعَثُWe will resurrectمِنْfromكُلِّeveryاُمَّةٍnationشَهِیْدًاa witnessثُمَّthenلَاnotیُؤْذَنُwill be permittedلِلَّذِیْنَto those whoكَفَرُوْاdisbelievedوَ لَاand notهُمْtheyیُسْتَعْتَبُوْنَ will be asked to make amends
(16:84) And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allah].
وَ اِذَاAnd whenرَاَ(will) seeالَّذِیْنَthose whoظَلَمُواwrongedالْعَذَابَthe punishmentفَلَاthen notیُخَفَّفُit will be lightenedعَنْهُمْfor themوَ لَاand notهُمْtheyیُنْظَرُوْنَ will be given respite
(16:85) And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
وَ اِذَاAnd whenرَاَ(will) seeالَّذِیْنَthose whoاَشْرَكُوْاassociated partners with Allahشُرَكَآءَهُمْtheir partnersقَالُوْاThey will sayرَبَّنَاOur Lordهٰۤؤُلَآءِtheseشُرَكَآؤُنَا(are) our partnersالَّذِیْنَthose whomكُنَّاwe used toنَدْعُوْاinvokeمِنْbesides Youدُوْنِكَ ۚbesides YouفَاَلْقَوْاBut they (will) throw backاِلَیْهِمُat themالْقَوْلَ(their) wordاِنَّكُمْIndeed, youلَكٰذِبُوْنَۚ(are) surely liars
(16:86) And when those who associated others with Allah see their "partners," they will say," Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."
وَ اَلْقَوْاAnd they (will) offerاِلَیtoاللّٰهِAllahیَوْمَىِٕذِ(on) that Dayلسَّلَمَthe submissionوَ ضَلَّand (is) lostعَنْهُمْfrom themمَّاwhatكَانُوْاthey used (to)یَفْتَرُوْنَ invent
(16:87) And they will impart to Allah that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
16. An-Nahl Page 277اَلَّذِیْنَAnd those whoكَفَرُوْاdisbelievedوَ صَدُّوْاand hinderedعَنْfromسَبِیْلِ(the) wayاللّٰهِ(of) AllahزِدْنٰهُمْWe will increase themعَذَابًا(in) punishmentفَوْقَoverالْعَذَابِpunishmentبِمَاbecauseكَانُوْاthey used (to)یُفْسِدُوْنَ spread corruption
(16:88) Those who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allah - We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment for what corruption they were causing.
وَ یَوْمَAnd the DayنَبْعَثُWe will resurrectفِیْamongكُلِّeveryاُمَّةٍnationشَهِیْدًاa witnessعَلَیْهِمْover themمِّنْfromاَنْفُسِهِمْthemselvesوَجِئْنَاAnd We (will) bringبِكَyouشَهِیْدًا(as) a witnessعَلٰیoverهٰۤؤُلَآءِ ؕtheseوَ نَزَّلْنَاAnd We sent downعَلَیْكَto youالْكِتٰبَthe Bookتِبْیَانًا(as) a clarificationلِّكُلِّof everyشَیْءٍthingوَّ هُدًیand a guidanceوَّ رَحْمَةًand mercyوَّ بُشْرٰیand glad tidingsلِلْمُسْلِمِیْنَ۠for the Muslims
(16:89) And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.
اِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahیَاْمُرُcommandsبِالْعَدْلِjusticeوَ الْاِحْسَانِand the goodوَ اِیْتَآئِand givingذِی(to) relativesالْقُرْبٰی(to) relativesوَ یَنْهٰیand forbidsعَنِ[from]الْفَحْشَآءِthe immoralityوَ الْمُنْكَرِand the badوَ الْبَغْیِ ۚand the oppressionیَعِظُكُمْHe admonishes youلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتَذَكَّرُوْنَ take heed
(16:90) Indeed, Allah orders justice and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
وَ اَوْفُوْاAnd fulfilبِعَهْدِthe covenantاللّٰهِ(of) Allahاِذَاwhenعٰهَدْتُّمْyou have taken a covenantوَ لَاand (do) notتَنْقُضُواbreakالْاَیْمَانَoathsبَعْدَafterتَوْكِیْدِهَاtheir confirmationوَ قَدْwhile verilyجَعَلْتُمُyou have madeاللّٰهَAllahعَلَیْكُمْover youكَفِیْلًا ؕa suretyاِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahیَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatتَفْعَلُوْنَ you do
(16:91) And fulfill the covenant of Allah when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allah, over you, a witness. Indeed, Allah knows what you do.
وَ لَاAnd (do) notتَكُوْنُوْاbeكَالَّتِیْlike her whoنَقَضَتْuntwistsغَزْلَهَاher spun yarnمِنْۢafterبَعْدِafterقُوَّةٍstrengthاَنْكَاثًا ؕ(into) untwisted strandsتَتَّخِذُوْنَyou takeاَیْمَانَكُمْyour oathsدَخَلًۢا(as) a deceptionبَیْنَكُمْbetween youاَنْbecauseتَكُوْنَisاُمَّةٌa communityهِیَ[it]اَرْبٰیmore numerousمِنْthanاُمَّةٍ ؕ(another) communityاِنَّمَاOnlyیَبْلُوْكُمُAllah tests youاللّٰهُAllah tests youبِهٖ ؕby itوَ لَیُبَیِّنَنَّAnd He will make clearلَكُمْto youیَوْمَ(on) the Dayالْقِیٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionمَاwhatكُنْتُمْyou used (to)فِیْهِin itتَخْتَلِفُوْنَ differ
(16:92) And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allah only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.
وَ لَوْAnd ifشَآءَAllah (had) willedاللّٰهُAllah (had) willedلَجَعَلَكُمْsurely He (could) have made youاُمَّةًa nationوَّاحِدَةًoneوَّ لٰكِنْbutیُّضِلُّHe lets go astrayمَنْwhomیَّشَآءُHe willsوَ یَهْدِیْand guidesمَنْwhomیَّشَآءُ ؕHe willsوَ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّAnd surely you will be questionedعَمَّاabout whatكُنْتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُوْنَ do
(16:93) And if Allah had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He causes to stray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
